If you’re passionate about preserving Yamhill’s unique character while helping to ensure its vitality and sustainability, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved.
The Economic Development Committee’s purpose is to:
- Research economic development questions.
- Consider options for economic opportunities, development, and investments.
- Investigate grant and funding options for city growth.
- Recommend code updates to the Planning Commission.
- Make recommendations to the City Council on economic development.
Open Position
The current opening is for a resident of Yamhill.
- One resident who has lived in the city for at least 12 consecutive months.
Committee members are appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. These are volunteer positions, and experience is welcome but not required.
Meetings and Current Projects
The committee generally meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m.
The committee is currently working on:
- Research for the planning commission to update the downtown business code.
- Establishing clear guidelines for building in the Central Business District (CBD) that preserve Yamhill’s historic look.
- Researching options to establish a historic district within the CBD.
- Preliminary footwork regarding downtown urban forestry design.
