City of Yamhill Open Positions 2025

- All positions are volunteer/non-paid.
- All terms will begin in January 2025.
The mayor serves as the political head of the City government, presides over and facilitates council meetings, preserves order, enforces council rules, and determines the order of business under council rules. The mayor is a voting member of the council and has no veto authority.
In addition to serving as the political head of the government and presiding over the council meetings. The mayor must sign all records of council decisions, perform financial oversight, and sign financial documents.
Councilors have the same voting power as the mayor, all decisions are made with a majority vote.
The mayor and city councilors attend regular city council meetings, executive sessions, special meetings, work sessions, and special events. Prospective candidates should have open availability to attend meetings and events as necessary.

Yamhill City Caucus 2024
Yamhill is one of the few cities in Oregon that still holds a caucus for the purpose of electing "city ticket" candidates for Mayor and Councilor positions. Registered voters within the city will gather to nominate who they want to see run for the respective offices.
The City Caucus was held on July 31, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., at Beulah City Park.
