The Planning Commission is a permanent committee of volunteers who have been appointed by the City Council to advise on matters related to planning and development, land use, and infrastructure planning.
Per Yamhill Municipal Code, the Planning Commission's duties are as follows:

To provide for widespread citizen involvement in land use and land use decisions.

To assure effective two-way communication with citizens in land use and land use decisions.

To provide the opportunity for citizens to be involved in all phases of the land use and land use decision process.

To assure that technical information is available in an understandable form on land use and land use decisions.

To assure that citizens will receive a response on land use and land use decisions.

To perform the duties of a Citizen Advisory Committee as set forth in the Comprehensive Plan adopted by the City Council of the City of Yamhill.
The Commission has quasi-judicial authority to make decisions in Chapters 10 & 11 of the Yamhill Municipal Code. However, their decisions must follow the established procedures and rules of the municipal code and can be appealed to the City Council.
The Yamhill Planning Commission tentatively meets on the 3rd Monday of each month (as necessary) at 6:30 p.m.
